Description
Washington D.C. Drain the Swamp!
I had absolutely no idea what this term meant. I thought it was a catchy term politicians
used to get votes. Originally it meant “to get rid of the malaria-carrying mosquitoes by
draining the swamp.” The Oxford Eagle states, “figuratively, ‘drain the swamp’ means to
“to exterminate something that is harmful; or anything that most of the people hate such
as corruption or government waste.”
I am not a political person, so I wondered why the Lord had been showing me dreams
and visions of Washington D.C., and its importance. I quickly realized that most
decisions are made there, especially concerning the Constitution of the United States.
Washington, D.C. is not a part of a state and seems to operate independently (as a
District).
The Constitution established the United States as a democratic republic. Democracy, is
a system of government of the entire population or of all eligible members of a state,
typically through elected representatives, simply put, it’s governed based on the will of
the people (votes). There are three branches of government. 1. President, Vice
President, Cabinet, and other federal agencies). 2. Legislative, which makes laws
(Congress, composed of the House of Representatives & Senate). 3. Judicial, Supreme
Court, and 9 Justices. They are special judges who interpret laws according to the
Constitution which is the highest court of our country. Like most governments, it is
responsible for the well-being of its people. Now, that the quick history lesson is over,
let’s jump into this vision.
